Gas Insulated Compact Switchgears (RMU)

Gas Insulated Compact Switchgears (RMU)

Overview

Secondary MV circuits are often installed in a circular architecture called a ring. This is important for continuity of supply to ensure that the energy to be used by a consumer is transferred from more than one point.
At the appropriate points of the ring circuit, consumer transformers (called distribution transformers) are located whose outputs are connected to the consumption points, and the energy of these transformers is transferred through MV secondary switchgears.
In these cells, there are at least one circuit element that feeds the transformer and at least two circuit elements that ensure the continuity of the ring. These circuit elements can be placed in a modular architecture so that each of them is located in a separate metal tank or in a compact architecture so that all of them (at least three) are located in the same metal tank. The cells in this second option are called RMU - Main Ring Unit.

General Information

  • They are especially preferred in urban networks due to their smaller footprint.
  • Ekos Electric can create the RMU by bringing the desired number of circuit elements side by side. All switching devices, busbars and connection elements are in a single tank made of stainless steel sheet filled with SF6 gas. Since all energized sections are isolated from the air, they are not affected by external influences such as dusting and humidity and do not require maintenance and cleaning.
  • All switching devices, busbars and connection elements are in a tank made of stainless steel sheet filled with SF6 gas. The cell has been subjected to the necessary tests for operator and operational safety and has successfully passed the tests. Since all energized areas are isolated from the air with IP 67 insulation level, they are not affected by external factors such as dusting and humidity and do not require maintenance and cleaning. Dimensions are reduced by using SF6 gas. SF6 gas in the RMU tank is used for insulation and arc extinguishing.
  • Metal Enclosed SF6 Gas Insulated Compact Switchgears are manufactured ready for SCADA applications with GE General Electric protection and control relays. Switchgears are manufactured in accordance with national and international standards (IEC 60298, IEC 62271-200, BS EN 60298, TS EN 60298) in a way that can easily respond to customer requests with various types and easily configurable structure.
  • Protection can be provided by fuse-load disconnector combination or role-vacuum breaker combination. It is possible to produce in desired configurations in parallel with customer requests. The stainless steel tank, which is completely isolated from atmospheric effects, provides a high level of operator safety as well as a maintenance-free system. It can be produced in different types and combinations according to switching possibilities. It can be made expandable and can be combined with Metal Enclosed SF6 Gas Insulated Modular Switchgears if desired.
