EKOS | electric is a Turkey-based leading technology and service provider operating in the production and sales of electrical infrastructure for electricity producers, grid operators, and industrial and commercial consumers.

Its roots date back to the early 80s, when it began operations as an equipment wholesaler and a reputable EPC in the construction of electrical grids and transformer substations. The application infrastructure and strong engineering resources it established enabled EKOS to open its production facility, where it assembles Medium and Low Voltage Switchgears and integrates them into containers as packaged transformer substations. Thanks to all its accumulated experience, EKOS began its journey of developing its own technology in the late 90s. Today, this has brought the company to a level of expertise where it produces its entire Medium Voltage Switchgear portfolio under its own license, including internal components ranging from switching equipment to digital protection relays.

Products derived from EKOS technology form the fundamental building blocks of every facility where electrical energy is transmitted to the consumer and controlled to ensure supply and reliability. The versatility of EKOS products has placed the company in a key position for renewable energy, battery storage facilities, the production of EV charging stations, and network connectivity.

Our History

  • 2025

    • Our Transformer Factory became operational to expand capacity and product range.

    • The foundation was laid for the new construction area planned in line with our growth targets.

  • 2023

    • Ekos Europe was established in Portugal to manufacture medium voltage switchgear and control-automation panels, and to provide sales services to Europe and South America.

    • Gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) were exported and commissioned on-site for use in two 40 MW electricity storage sites of Enel Green Power, Italy's national renewable energy company.

    • Ekos Mobility has been granted a charging network operator license by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA/EPDK).

    • By the resolution of the General Assembly dated 16.03.2023, our trade name was changed from “Ekosinerji Elektrik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.” to “EKOS Teknoloji ve Elektrik A.Ş.”

  • 2022

    • Ekos Mobility was established with the mission of operating electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and realizing renewable energy investments.

    • To increase capacity, we began the production of medium and high voltage switchgear, control panels, and mobile transformer substations at our 3rd factory in Balıkesir.

    • Gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) produced for use in a 144 MW solar power plant in Portugal were exported.

  • 2021

    • Primary gas-insulated medium voltage switchgear and custom-designed concrete transformer substations were exported and commissioned on-site for a project in Sweden, the largest wind energy site in Europe with more than 2,000 MW of licensed capacity.

  • 2019

    • Sarl EKOS Africa was established in Dakar, Senegal as a subsidiary.

    • The first export to the Philippines was realized for use in the 36 kV grid of the national electricity company.

  • 2017

    • The automation system of the 154 kV gas-insulated transformer substation (GIS) providing power to Istanbul Airport has been commissioned.

    • Production of concrete and sheet metal transformer substations and containerized integrated solution products has commenced at our two factories in Balıkesir.

  • 2015

    • In order to increase production capacity against the rising demand for switchgear and concrete transformer substations, our operations were moved to the Balıkesir Main Factory, purchased in the Balıkesir Organized Industrial Zone (OSB).

    • A 1 MW solar power plant was installed on the roof of the Balıkesir Main Factory.

    • Four mobile transformer substations with 154/33kV 50 MVA capacity, designed and manufactured by us, were delivered to TEİAŞ (Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation).

  • 2014

    • The production and export of a total of 28 high-voltage mobile transformer substations were realized for Sonelgaz.

    • Turnkey tender contracts were awarded for 220/60/30kV 80MVA and 400/220kV 3x300MVA transformer substations for Sonelgaz.

  • 2013

    • Gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) was exported to Ivory Coast.

  • 2012

    • The Hendek Factory has commenced operations to increase production capacity for concrete transformer substations and switchgear.

    • The first exports of air-insulated switchgear (AIS) and gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) to Tunisia and Senegal were realized.

    • Primary Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) used for Primary Distribution Networks has been commissioned in the TEİAŞ (Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation) grid.

    • Tenders for a total of 10 high-voltage mobile transformer substations have been awarded from Sonelgaz, the state-owned public utility responsible for electricity and natural gas distribution in Algeria.

  • 2010

    • The main sub-contracting for the special protection and control system required for the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E), which connects Türkiye's transmission line with Europe, was undertaken.

  • 2009

    • Türkiye's first indigenously designed and manufactured Primary Gas-Insulated Switchgear (36 kV, 1250 A, 25 kA 3 seconds, modular) was launched and put into service in the Algerian grid.

    • The development activity for the Primary Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) designed for Primary Distribution Networks has been successfully concluded.

    • The first export of a digitally controlled medium-voltage mobile transformer substation, developed by the company for Sonelgaz (the state-owned public utility responsible for electricity and natural gas distribution in Algeria), was realized.

  • 2007

    • The first export to Europe was realized. Air-Insulated Switchgear (AIS) and Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) units have been put into operation in the 36 kV grid of CEZ, the national electricity company of Czechia.

  • 2006

    • The production of the first underground concrete transformer substation was realized and put into service within the body of Akdeniz EDAŞ.

    • The modernization project for the unit control and protection systems at the PETKİM Aliağa facilities has been completed.

    • The Energy Management System (EMS) communication and automation project for the Sahara Desert region of the Algerian national grid has been implemented.

  • 2005

    • The SF6 gas-insulated Ring Main Unit (RMU) was launched and has been put into service in TEDAŞ's medium-voltage urban distribution grids.

  • 2004

    • The first transformer substation automation project in Algeria has been completed.

    • The first indigenous SF6 gas-insulated Ring Main Unit (RMU – Metal-Enclosed Gas-Insulated Compact Switchgear) in Türkiye has been manufactured.

  • 2003

    • Within the scope of Sonelgaz's grid modernization project in Algeria, the tender for the renewal of high-voltage transmission line and transformer protection systems has been won.

    • The first export of Air-Insulated Switchgear (AIS) to Algeria was realized.

  • 2002

    • The first manufactured Air-Insulated Switchgear (AIS) units were launched and supplied to the TEDAŞ Bursa Enterprise Directorate.

    • The subsidiary Sarl EKOS Energie was established in Algeria.

    • A "Value Added Reseller (VAR)" agreement has been signed within the scope of General Electric (GE) automation and SCADA products.

  • 2001

    • The company's first monoblock concrete transformer substation mold was developed, and its production has commenced.

  • 2000

    • Ekosinerji Elektrik Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi has been established.
